SkillsActive crop1Skills Active has negotiated a further injection of cash to help develop the coaching workforce in the South East. Funding provided by the European Social Fund (ESF) awarded in 2008 means that over 1000 Level 2 and 100 Level 3 candidates can receive a £200 or £400 boost (respectively) to support UK Coaching Certificate programmes. This a great opportunity for you and Hampshire & IOW to increase the number of coaches in the county.

The South East Coaching Bursary scheme has been running since 2008, the result of a year-long workforce development project conducted by all County Sport Partnerships across the region.  With 22 governing bodies taking the lead to increase the number of active coaches, employed and deployed to deliver sport across the region. The  sports involved include Angling, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Canoeing, Cricket, Cycling, Equestrian, Golf, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Netball, Rounders, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Rowing, Swimming, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis and Triathlon.

The ESF supports a range of initiatives aimed at developing skills and providing new opportunities for the nation’s workforce. Since 2000 ESF has helped over 4 million people gain better skills, meeting personal goals and fulfilling personal potential through ESF funded projects.
